The automotive buyer intelligence firm, Autolist.com, released their Summer 2017 Car Buyer Quarterly Report today and ranked Miami the #1 most affordable play to buy a vehicle in the US.

The study, which draws on over 81 million vehicles across vehicles of all makes and models nationwide, listed multiple geographic and vehicle-specific trends for cities and states throughout the country. The iconic Ford Crown Victoria was in aggregate the most affordable averaging $1,668 below the expected market price. For pickups and sedans, the Ram Pickup 2500 and the Mercedes-Benz G-Class were most affordable in their categories respectively.

Over the past quarter, the top 5 cities for used car affordability were:

  1. Miami, FL – $1,371
  2. New York, NY – $1,040
  3. Tampa, FL – $726
  4. Newark, NJ – $708
  5. Atlanta, GA – $582
  6. Plano, TX – $444
  7. Washington, DC – $432
  8. Buffalo, NY – $426
  9. Cleveland, OH – $356
  10. Detroit, MI – $344

According to the study, the following list represents the highest ranked states in terms of affordability:

  1. Florida
  2. Rhode Island
  3. Massachusetts
  4. New York
  5. New Jersey

Additionally, North Dakota showed the most significant improvement from April 2017 to June 2017 moving up 8 spots from 27th to 19th place in the national. Georgia, Montana, Oklahoma and Wyoming also saw a bump in their ratings.

As a result, there is an opportunity for people to save hundreds if not thousands of dollars by taking advantage of these pricing trends during the summer months.
